MEMORANDUM #2 -- FOR SERIOUS COLLECTORS OF BILL DIXON'S MUSICODYSSEY, a 6-CD set of music (trumpet solos) covering the period 1970-1992, with three essays on the work, aesthetic and teaching of Bill Dixon by three distinguinshed authorities (Jason Zappa, Graham Lock, Ben Young); a foreword by BD; a spoken word CD by BD detailing the genesis of this work; etchings, woodcuts and lino cuts by BD, is finally nearing completion after nearly three years of intensive work. ODYSSEY will be issued in a limited edition and will be priced as reasonably as can be expected for such an undertaking, and is specifically designed for the collector of BD's work. ODYSSEY, as a document, has been an extremely laborious task and for the astute collector will serve as a companion volume to DIXONIA: a Bio-discography of Bill Dixon, a reference/informational book of 418 pages, authored by Ben Young and published by Greenwood Press in 1998. So in answer to numerous queries the word is: be patient regarding ODYSSEY. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
